Ulefone is not among the top 10 Chinese smartphone makers, but its products are very popular. This is the brand that brings at least one selling point to its smartphones, and that feature helps the phone to sell in millions. Probably you have heard about the Ulefone Metal, Armor, Future, and others. Each of them comes with a feature corresponding its name. Say, the Metal sports a metal housing, the Armor is the first IP68 certified phone of the company, the Future sports a bezel-less screen and so on. In this sense, one of the most popular handsets coming our way from this company was the Ulefone Power, a great device packed with a large capacity battery of 6050mAh. Its successor has been announced at MWC2017. Now the phone is available for pre-order, so we decided to take a closer look at this amazing handset and find out what improvements the company has brought to the Ulefone Power 2.
As the phone has been designed for those who prefer longer battery life to other features, do not expect for the Ulefone Power 2 to look outstanding. The bigger battery is the bulkier it is. This is a standard and no one could invent anything better. This rule is true for the Ulefone Power 2 as well. Regardless all the efforts made by the manufacturer to hide this feature, the Power 2 is thick. It comes at 9.9mm thickness. It’s about 3mm thicker than a regular smartphone. So let’s write it down and go forward.
The front panel of the phone looks more attractive. It carries a 5.5-inch Full HD screen at pixel density of 401ppi and covered with Gorilla Glass 3. Other than that, the screen comes with a 2.5D arc glass. It gives a stylish and modern look to the phone. The display is made of LTPS (Low Temperature PolySilicon) technology. So we have to state, the screen is what we need. The speaker, front camera and a standard set of sensors are located above the screen, while the home button is below it.
The back of the Ulefone Power 2 is made of metal. It comes with a traditional three-stage design. The 13MP camera is located at the middle upper part of the rear panel. It’s paired with a LED flash located vertical to the camera module. The Ulefone logo is printed below it.
The power button and the volume rocker are on the right hands side. The SIM card slot is on the left. The 3.5mm audio jack is on the top. And finally, the microUSB port, speaker and a microphone hole are placed on the bottom.
The overall design is not bad, but the rear panel with curved edges look artificial. I mean the manufacturer has tried to hide its bulkiness and rounded the edges. Did not work out!
Anyway, the phone comes at dimensions of 155×77.6×9.9mm and weighs 210 grams. There are three color options available for purchase – black, gold and silver.
The handset sports a MediaTek MT6750T octa-core chip clocked at 1.5GHz. This SoC scores 41.000 at AnTuTu. It’s paired with a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. This is one of the biggest changes made in comparison to the original Ulefone Power. As you remember, the latter comes with a 3GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. Moreover, the manufacturer has also replaced the plastic back panel with a metal one, as we’ve seen above. And the third biggest improvement refers to the fingerprint scanner. Now it’s located on the front under the home button. Its response time is lowered to 0.15s. The fingerprint recognition works at 360 degrees and supports up to 5 fingerprints.
However, we know current chips include other units but the CPU. In other words, they are responsible for connectivity as well. Fortunately, the MediaTek MT6750T supports 4G LTE Cat.6 as well as VoLTE high quality voice calls. The Ulefone Power 2 also supports GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, and dual-band WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4G/5G.
One of the less attractive features of this device is the camera. There is a 16MP 6-element lens on the back with ƒ/2.2 large aperture. The sensor size is respectable, but due to many camera features, it captures regular photos. Anyway, the phone sports a 13MP camera on the front supporting 100-stage beautification and 14 light filters.

At last, the Ulefone Power 2 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
Ulefone Power 2 Battery
This is its selling point, undoubtedly. The phone is packed with a 6050mAh large capacity battery supporting PE 2.0 (Pump Express) fast charge technology at 9V/2A. It takes 2-3 hours to charge fully. This battery is capable of providing up to 1160 hours of standby time as well as 19 hours of talk time.

The Ulefone Power 2 comes with a list of improvements in comparison to the older model. Though there are left some shortcoming we mentioned in the Cons section, this handset is a powerful mid-range smartphone at an affordable price tag of $179.99.
