Peer-to-peer payment capabilities in Facebook Messenger are moving beyond the United States for the first time. The ability to send money to friends through the messaging app is now available in the UK. No region other than the US has received the feature since its launch in 2015.
Like in the US, you’ll need to link a debit card to your Facebook account before you can send or receive money through the platform. This feature will reach users in the UK in the coming weeks.
Payment features are becoming more common in messaging apps. They’ve been added to services like iMessage, Slack, and Skype.
