A replacement for Uber founder and former CEO Travis Kalanick could be announced by the middle of this week, reports Recode. The company’s board has been discussing the replacement since Friday. If a decision is made, we could learn about it in the coming days.
There are some major disputes between the board members, however. Those have kept the board from making a quick decision.
One of the primary sources of disagreement is the continued role of Kalanick in the company. Some believe he should have a significant role in Uber, while others want him as far removed as possible. Kalanick himself is on the board.
Uber’s board reportedly has three options for the CEO position. One of the candidates, former GE CEO Jeff Immelt, has publicly removed himself from the pool. The others are believed to be HP Enterprise CEO Meg Whitman and Amazon Web Services head Andy Jassy.
