Uber plans to go public by 2019, says CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, speaking at The New York Times’ Dealbook conference. He says an IPO is part of his plan for the company. In August he attached an 18-36 month range to the initial offering and now he’s more firmly setting 2019 as the date.
This stance comes from a chief executive previously in charge of Expedia, a large public company. It’s a very different stance from that of founder and former CEO Travis Kalanick, who was more interested in remaining private as long as possible.
Khosrowshahi believes Uber is currently receiving “all the disadvantage of being a public company, with the spotlight on us, with none of the advantages.”
