Uber hasn’t finalized its deal with SoftBank and the Japanese company has even publicly talked about switching its investment to Lyft, but Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi says the deal will occur. Speaking at The New York Times’ DealBook conference, he said, “it hasn’t happened yet but it will.”
The ridehailing firm’s board approved negotiations with SoftBank early last month. The deal would give SoftBank ~20% of the company.
Khosrowshahi says negotiations are “taking longer than they should” and it appears a primary sticking point is the valuation of Uber’s shares. Regardless, he appears confident the deal will be finalized.
