Twitter has signed livestreaming deals with ESL and DreamHack that’ll see the network be home to 1,500 hours of live eSports content. The deals cover 15 events, such as ESL One and Intel Extreme Masters. ESL will also provide live original content for Twitter, including a weekly 30-minute show.
Streaming on the network begins March 4 with StarCraft II content from Intel Extreme Masters.
All of these streams are going to be available through Twitter’s website and mobile apps.
Twitter will bring in revenue from the streams by selling ads on them.
Esports is growing at a rapid pace and we see this collaboration as a way to tap into the engaged audience of gamers that are already using Twitter as a primary source of content. By partnering with the leading esports companies like ESL and DreamHack, we look forward to bringing the best of esports live video and conversation together on Twitter. – Anthony Noto, COO, Twitter
