To move in the direction of profitability, Twitter has made the decision to cut costs by laying off hundreds of employees and ending its support of Vine, which was once a fast-growing short-form video platform. All existing content will remain on the platform and is still accessible, but new content can’t be added.
At an undisclosed time in the coming months, Vine’s app will be fully discontinued. Even though the app attracted hundreds of millions of users during its early days, it has since been surpassed by platforms like Snapchat.
