Twitter Grows Display Name Length To 50 Characters

312

It’s not just tweets that are getting longer on Twitter. The social network has updated its display name restriction, enabling people to use names as long as 50 characters, up from 20. This will help people add more emoji and it’ll generally be useful for those who actually have longer names.

This update comes shortly after Twitter expanded its tweet length from 140 to 280 characters. That change has received a mixed response from users, though in general it appears having a longer post limit may facilitate greater interaction.
