Twitter Adds Optional Livestreaming Alerts

In case you really don’t want to miss a livestream from someone you’re following on Twitter, you can now receive alerts from the app when one begins. On mobile devices, you can turn on the feature by tapping the new notification icon on a user’s page. When that user goes live, you’ll be notified, including by a red bar at the bottom of your feed.

Twitter has also announced a partnership with Cheddar, a news network, that will see its financial live streams broadcast on the network. Cheddar’s Opening Bell and Closing Bell shows will be available on Twitter, which is the only place you can view them for free.

Twitter is the fastest way to find out what’s happening in the world and to engage in the live conversation about it. Partnering with Cheddar will give people on Twitter another way to watch and discuss the day’s top stories as they unfold live all on one platform. – Anthony Noto, CFO, Twitter
