Trump Administration cuts might threaten AI analysis efforts

The Trump Administration has fired various National Science Foundation workers who had been handpicked for his or her experience in AI, threatening the company’s capacity to maintain key AI analysis, Bloomberg reported.

One of the affected departments inside NSF, known as the Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships, was instrumental in funneling authorities grants targeted on AI. Many overview panels have been postponed or canceled on account of the layoffs, stalling funding for some AI tasks, based on Bloomberg.

AI consultants have criticized the Trump Administration’s latest cuts to scientific grant-making, and specifically, reductions championed by billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. In a put up on X, Geoffrey Hinton, an AI pioneer and Nobel Laureate, known as for Musk to be expelled from the British Royal Society “because of the huge damage he is doing to scientific institutions in the U.S.”

Musk responded to Hinton’s put up, saying, “I will make mistakes, but endeavor to fix them.”
