Though the main flagship of Samsung carries S letter in its naming, this line has become more popular thanks to the Edge model. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was the first dual-curved screen smartphone in the world. That’s why the Korean manufacturer was able to boost its sales by several times. Curved screen smartphones are stylish, useful and more acceptable in terms of ergonomics. But they require additional manufacturing processes that affect the pricing a lot. So many smartphone makers avoid this solution in order to keep their handsets costing affordable. On the other hand, if a smartphone maker want to get bigger market share and compete with top brands, it should take chance and come in with products with high demand. Xiaomi was one of them, and its efforts brought tons of benefits. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 with dual-curved screen has becomes the company’s current flagship selling in millions. Many think it’s the way better than the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and other double curved screen handsets. Today we decided to find out whether the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is the best in its niche; main rivals of Xiaomi Mi Note 2; and what dual-curved smartphone are coming to make tough competition to the Mi Note 2.

ZTE Nubia Z9
Probably you know Nubia is treated as a separate division of ZTE focused on making high-end handsets. That’s why devices from this line differ from all other ZTE products. Therefore, the Nubia Z9 is designed for those who prefer a high-end smartphone with unique appearance and features. This handset can be considered as a glass-and-metal sandwich that also provides a bezel-less experience. One of the key features is the 5.2-inch display at resolution of Full HD and 424ppi pixel density. However, many can wonder why this handset appears in this list, because it has no curved screen. The truth is this manufacturer has slightly rounded the edges of the Nubia Z9 and added a special technology dubbed as Edge Touch, which is a Frame Interactive Technology. It uses the edges of the display to interact with the phone and make various operations.
The rest of specs include a Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM (Classic Edition), 16MP camera powered with Sony Exmor IMX234 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and OIS, which also is capable of recording videos at 4K resolution, and finally, a 2900mAh battery, which is not sufficient for a 5.2-inch display at all.

The next nominee is the Elephone S7, which is an actually dual-curved edge screen device with a decent specs list. It comes with a 5.5-inch screen at a resolution of Full HD, MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor paired with an ARM Mali T880 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory (this is the simplest version that is also followed by 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB versions as well), a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 3000mAh battery.
This phone is thought to be a Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge knock off, as it comes with a great design and curved screen, which has become a mainstream nowadays. But it has another selling point, the price.
Bluboo Edge

The Bluboo Edge is known as the cheapest curved screen phablet in the world. It is powered with a 5.5-inch HD resolution screen manufactured by Sharp. Though this screen yields its rivals in terms of resolution, it comes with a Gorilla Glass 4 protection that removes many questions. The performance is smooth and acceptable, though it can’t be considered as a high class experience due to MediaTek MT6737 quad-core CPU paired with an ARM Mali-T720 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. Unfortunately, the same picture exists when it comes to the camera and battery. The Bluboo Edge sports an 8MP rear camera interpolated to 13MP one as well as a 2600mAh battery, which will require frequently charging to keep on working. But as you guess the company has slashed many features off in order to reduce the pricing.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and its rivals (specs comparison table)
When the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 was launched we compared with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 thinking the latter is the only actual competitor to this phone. Alas. The Galaxy Note 7 was recalled and taken out from the production. Many Mi fans started thinking there will be no rival to their favorite device in the nearest future, but all these opinion disappeared when it became known the Mi Note 2 won’t be the only handset packed with a dual-curved screen. Later we discovered this statement referred to Vivo, Meizu, Huawei and others. As for Vivo, we have already seen its model for this niche and seems it’s the only real competitor to the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. But what about the others? The Huawei Mate 9 with dual Leica camera at 20MP+12MP and curved screen is almost ready to be unveiled soon, Gionee M2017 with a 5.7-inch screen at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels has already appeared on TENNA, the Sony Zeus has been showed in several photos as well, the iPhone 8 is rumored to sport similar screen in coming months, and finally we are waiting for the HTC 11. As you see, almost all big players will launch their own curved screen smartphones, so if Xiaomi wants to stay afloat it should make a furor like the company did with the launch of the Mi Note 2.
