A partner of Time Warner Cable that was handling some of the ISP’s customer data failed to properly protect customer information. The partner, BroadSoft, stored over 4 million Time Warner Cable customer records on Amazon cloud servers and didn’t secure the records with a password.
The records stretch back all the way to November 2010. Anyone who has used the MyTWC mobile app is vulnerable.
Included in the information are email addresses, usernames, financial transaction records, and billing addresses.
BroadSoft has secured the data and says there’s currently no indication that the data was accessed during the period where it lacked protection.
