When something in the world turns out to be functional, it is customary for that to become a trend. It was already seen with the Smartphones with a full front screen, which now dominates the market for the high range. This year a new starting point when developing phones has been born, and that is to include the fingerprint scanner on the screen. Xiaomi’s latest mobile phone did not incorporate the technology, which suggests that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be chosen to use it for the first time in the company.
The evolution of the feature
The technology of fingerprint scanning on display is very new. The first device to implement it was the Vivo X20 Plus UD, a phone that used the technology developed by Synaptics. Later the company announced the release of the X21, an improved version of the Smartphone that would use this time the fingerprint scanner of Goodix.
The rumors about who is the next to integrate this function have not stopped, being on the list the Mate 11 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. It would not be coherent to think that Xiaomi, being one of the five largest manufacturers of phones, has no plans to implement this function. However, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S does not have this feature, but what about the Xiaomi Mi 7?
The future Xiaomi Mi 7
According to XDA, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S came out much sooner than the next Xiaomi Mi 7 because there were certain problems with the fingerprint scanner on display. This information comes from an image with what is believed to be the firmware of the Xiaomi Mi 7.
In the image on the left, highlighted in gray, you can see how the code mentions the technology of FPC and Goodix; however, this has been canceled and is believed to be the current code available in the Xiaomi Mi 7. On the other hand, the image of the right shows the use of the Synaptic and Goodix technology, and in the second line is the suffix “fod“, which corresponds to “fingerprint on display”.
If you investigate a little more in the code, you can get the word MiuiKeyguard (the phone lock application) accompanied by the words “syna” and “goodix fod“, and a little below there are complete codes like “fingerprint circles”,” fingerprint image” and other indicators.
The image above shows the possible result on the screen of the Xiaomi Mi 7 with the fingerprint reader on display.
We must remember that, as we mentioned previously, the last filtered information of the Xiaomi Mi 7 indicates that this function has been eliminated from the phone. There are two possibilities at the moment: the first is that the Mi 7 manages to implement the function, and the second is that Xiaomi waits to apply it on another Smartphone. XDA indicates that the Xiaomi Mi 7 (whose code name is ursa) would carry a Snapdragon 845 processor, a 4000mAh battery and a full-body OLED display.
