Windows 10’s upcoming feature release is codenamed “Redstone 3.” We’ve known for a while that Microsoft is planning to release the Windows 10 Redstone 3 update later this Fall — but today, we have a new bit of information about the release.

Microsoft today announced that the company is going to release two major upgrades to Windows 10 every year — one of which will be released in March, while the other will be released in September. In a blog post, Microsoft confirmed that the next Windows 10 feature update is planned to be released in September of this year, which is indeed pretty exciting. Of course, September 2017 is the planned release date for the Redstone 3 update, which means there’s a small chance that Microsoft may not be able to deliver it exactly in September.

Windows 10 Redstone 3 is expected to include some major new features for Windows 10 — most notably, the update is expected to bring an improved design (codenamed Project NEON), improvements to Microsoft Edge, and possibly the new Tabbed Shell which will add tabs to apps such as File Explorer, and more.

Microsoft is going to share more about Windows 10 Redstone 3 at its annual developer conference in Seattle, and we will be covering it live next month.
