Tesla’s electric semi truck reportedly has a range of 200 to 300 miles per charge, meaning it can travel about the same distance as a Model S, albeit with a larger battery. Reuters claims a prototype of the Tesla Semi will be unveiled at an event in September.
Details about the truck’s range were shared by Ryder executive Scott Perry, who said Tesla is creating “an electric big-rig known as a ‘day cab’ with no sleeper berth, capable of traveling about 200 to 300 miles with a typical payload before recharging.”
Ryder is a fleet operator based in Florida. Tesla CEO Elon Musk noted previously that it was speaking with the trucking industry to receive feedback about its semi.
