The Model 3 is shaping up to be a large source of revenue for Tesla and it could also be quite difficult to meet demand. During an earnings call, CEO Elon Musk said the company has been getting around 1,800 preorders daily since the delivery event last month.
It’s receiving more preorders each day than all of the Model 3 vehicles it plans to build in the third quarter (1,500). Though, Tesla intends to produce 5,000 vehicles per week by the end of this year.
Musk also said there have been 518,000 gross preorders for the less expensive electric vehicle. Once you take out cancellations, that falls to 455,000.
