Tesla’s vehicle deliveries increased by 70% sequentially during the third quarter of 2016, placing the company’s deliveries at ~24,500. Among those deliveries are 15,800 Model S and 8,700 Model X. The figure may actually be a little low since Tesla is only counting vehicles that haven been fully delivered and not the 5,500 that are “in transit to customers.”
All of those “in transit” vehicles should be included in the Q4 report, which is likely to show slightly higher deliveries than Q3.
Production was also greater during the quarter. Tesla made 25,185 vehicles during Q3, up from 18,345.
This performance shows Tesla is on track to reach its goal of 50,000 deliveries during the second half of 2016. It delivered 50,580 vehicles in all of 2015.
