Tesla could be on its way to becoming an unexpected member of the music streaming industry. Sources speaking with Recode claim CEO Elon Musk has been in talks with music labels about creating a service that’d be bundled with the company’s electric vehicles.
It’s not known exactly how much content would be available or if the service would be positioned to compete against some of the existing streaming options. Tesla has at least considered offering “multiple tiers of service, starting with a Pandora-like web radio offering.”
Tesla hasn’t confirmed the talks, but it did suggest music streaming has been considered.
