The Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA) will actively cooperate with the government initiated "Go South Policy" and will assist its member companies to promote sales in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, according to TEEMA chairman Gou Tai-chiang.
Meanwhile, under the guidelines of the new administrative policy, including the aim to build Taiwan’s own battleships in the future, there are opportunities for strengthened tie-ups between locally developed technologies and the electronics industry, Gou said.
During a recent visit to the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), Gou said he has witnessed a number of new technologies being developed, as well as identified those that are still required, and believes the new policies will bring close cooperation between the electronics industry and research institutes.
TEEMA’s member companies are going to face new competition and challenges in 2017, including the inauguration of the Trump administration in the US, which may introduce new policies that could affect previously signed trade and economic cooperation pacts, Gou noted.
To assist member companies to expand sales, TEEMA has been assisting local electronics companies to hold exhibitions in a number of cities in China, including Kunshan, Maanshan and Changsha, Gou noted.
TEEMA also plans to organize trade missions to visit Indonesia and Myanmar in 2017, Gou added.
