Taiwanese board rates Ace Combat 7 for the Xbox One

The Ace Combat franchise is a long running series of flight simulators, and it’s had an all too short relationship with the Xbox. Both Ace Combat 6 and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon came to the Xbox 360, with the former being completely exclusive to it. There hasn’t been too much activity for the franchise on home consoles since then, with Ace Combat Infinity – a free to play game which was exclusive to the PlayStation 3 – being the only release aside from handheld and mobile games.

Ace Combat 7 was announced two years ago as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, but it might head to the Xbox One as well. Spotted by Gematsu, Taiwan’s Game Software Rating Information board has given the game age ratings for both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, as they also unveiled HAWKEN’s Xbox One release all the way back in May last year. It doesn’t mean that a game certainly will head to a platform, but the worst possible scenario is that a game’s publisher is considering a port.

If Ace Combat 7 is heading to the Xbox One, this also raises a lot of questions about potential VR support on Project Scorpio. We already know that VR support is planned for Scorpio, and the PS4 version of Ace Combat 7 does feature support for PlayStation VR. It’s possible that the announcement of the game’s Xbox One version has been held back until more details about Scorpio are available, as developers haven’t even received development kits for the system yet. If this is the case, it’s likely that this year’s E3 conference could be the earliest that we end up hearing about the port officially.

If Ace Combat 7 heads to the Xbox One, would you buy it? Would virtual reality support on Project Scorpio make you want it even more? Let us know in the comments below!
