Taiwan October export value hits 23-month high, says MOF

Taiwan recorded export value of US$26.75 billion for October 2016, the highest monthly level since December 2014 and increasing 18.6% on month and 9.4% on year. Import value for the month reached US$22.37 billion, also hitting a 23-month high and rising 23.0% on month and 19.5% on year, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

Of the Taiwan-made products, electronics had the largest export value of US$9.068 billion in October, the historically highest monthly level with growth of 7.7% on month and 15.3% on year.

The total export value of US$229.38 billion and import value of US$189.04 for January-October declined 4.5% and 4.7% respectively on year.
