Taiwan Mobile (TWM) has entered an agreement with Tesla to cooperate in the B2B connected car market in Taiwan, according to company president James Jeng.
Taiwan Mobile will provide wireless connectivity and data transmission services to enable connected experience for drivers within Tesla’s electric cars, Jeng said.
Tesla has opened a flagship shop in downtown Taipei and also begins taking orders from its website. Tesla is expected to begin delivering its electric cars to local consumers in the first quarter of 2017, according to a Chinese-language Apple Daily.
Meanwhile, Jeng expects that sales performance of Taiwan Mobile in the third quarter of 2016 will be better than those a quarter earlier thanks to the release of new iPhone 7 devices.
Although there is a shortage of the iPhone 7 devices at the local telecom operators currently, the tight supply is expected to ease in October, Jeng noted.
Since iPhone series products have a longer product life cycle, strong demand for the new iPhones is expected to continue to the fourth quarter of 2016, Jeng said.
