Online game developer and operator Gamania Digital Entertainment has started operation of Gama Pay, smartphone-based third-party mobile e-payment services, in the Taiwan market, becoming the second operator of such services next to allPay.
Three million members of Gamania online games and active users of more than 100 online games launched by Gamania will be target users of Gama Pay, Gamania chairman Albert Liu said. To encourage them to use Gama Pay, Gamania has offered discounts in purchasing Gash points used to play online games as incentives, Liu noted.
In addition to playing online games, Gama Pay can be used for small-value purchases at about 20,000 retail stores and other type of commercial facilities, such as taxies and parking towers, around Taiwan currently, and the number of retail stores or commercial facilities is expected to increase to 50,000-100,000 at the end of 2016, Liu indicated.
PChomePay will become the third operator of third-party mobile e-payment services in late October and Pay2Go and ezPay may begin operation at the end of 2016 or the first quarter of 2017. However, the Taiwan market is unable to accommodate all operators and no more than two of them can survive eventually and, through intense competition, winners will come out approximately in September 2017, Liu analyzed.
