Another summer, another flood of smartphones. Although the iPhone 5 won’t make its typical early summer debut, HTC is pushing new devices — and the company hopes its latest will be a market sensation.
The HTC Sensation 4G will make its exclusive debut on the T-Mobile network on June 15. Touting Android 2.3, Gingerbread, the carrier is billing the Sensation 4G as the most powerful smartphone in its lineup. The Sensation 4G comes complete with HTC Sense, a 1.2-GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and access to a 4G network.
The Sensation 4G was designed and manufactured by HTC. The company is positioning the new handset as a superphone. Appearance-wise, the device has rounded edges, aluminum unibody construction, and T-Mobile’s first 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen display.
Apps and More Apps
With so much focus on apps in the smartphone world, HTC took steps to build in mobile entertainment with features that deliver movies, TV programs, and music via preloaded apps. Specifically, HTC Watch offers access to a library of premium movies and TV shows for rent or purchase, while HTC Listen offers access to millions of songs, along with the capability to transfer music purchases to other devices and computers.
T-Mobile is helping the mobile entertainment cause with T-Mobile TV, a free selection of
live and on-demand TV, including news, sports and kids’ programming, plus full episodes of popular shows. T-Mobile also offers Video Chat powered by Qik to empower video conversations with friends and family. There’s also Slacker Radio, a free, personalized radio with more than 150 genre stations and the ability to create personalized stations. In all, there are more than 200 apps available for the device in the Android Market.
