T-Mobile is upgrading its network in some US cities to increase its maximum LTE download speed to 400 Mbps. Software updates enabling the faster connections on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge units will be released in October. Once your phone is updated, the max speed will be greater in 319 cities.
A couple big LTE upgrades are in the works at T-Mobile. The first, called 4×4 MIMO, will double upload and download speeds. That will be supported on the same Samsung phones following updates later hits month.
The second upgrade (which enables the 400 Mbps max speed) is implementing 256 QAM for downloads and 64 QAM for uploads. That part will be available nationwide, though the 400 Mbps max speed is limited to certain cities and devices.
