One of the best notebook review websites Notebookcheck has just got their hands on Microsoft’s latest notebook, the Surface Book 2. While the new notebook comes with improved design and faster components, the review reveals that it comes with some drastic drawbacks.
The Surface Book 2’s cooling system can’t handle the quad-core i7-8650U CPU, which throttles heavily following just a single run of CineBench R15 Multi-Thread. Because of that, even the dual-core i5-7300HQ is faster.
The charger isn’t capable of keeping the battery at 100% as the 15-inch Surface Book 2 GTX 1060 SKU will consume battery power faster than it can recharge. Last, but not least is the same Panasonic MEI96A2 3:2 IPS panel as the first generation Surface Book and its black-to-white response time of 21 ms makes it much slower than on other notebooks.
