If you like to listen to music while jogging, walking or running, Samsung is giving owners of its Gear S2 and Gear S3 smartwatches, the opportunity to access Spotify on the timepieces. You can find the app inside the Galaxy App Store that can be opened using the Gear Manager app on your handset. If Spotify is not in the store, it means that availability has not yet hit your country.
Subscribers to the premium version of Spotify will not be able to listen to music offline. However, premium subscribers will have the ability to play certain songs, something that users of the free tier cannot do. If you have not subscribed to the premium service, you will be limited to listening to Playlists on shuffle mode. Spotify will work over LTE and Wi-Fi, and navigating the app is a breeze thanks to the rotating bezel.
Remember that the app won’t work on the watch unless you have it loaded on your phone or slate as well. And while it really doesn’t matter, we should point out that both timepieces are powered by Tizen, not Android. We do have some screenshots that show how Spotify will appear on the Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S3. To view them, simply click on the slideshow below.
