Samsung is one of the biggest manufacturers of chipsets for other companies like Apple and Qualcomm, but it also makes chips for its Exynos line. Samsung is said to be developing the Snapdragon 835 for Qualcomm using the 10mn FinFet process, which is also found on the upcoming Exynos 8895.

Specs for the Exynos 8895 processor leaked online, showing that the chipset will be coming in two variants, Exynos 8895M and Exynos 8895V, according to GizmoChina.

The two chips differ in terms of clock speed and GPUs. The first will be clocked at 2.5GHz and incorporate a G71 MP20 graphics processing unit, while the second will be clocked at 2.3GHz and have support for G71 MP18 GPU. The chipset will have Cat.12 LTE speeds and support for 4k screens. Moreover, it will support UFS 2.1 storage options, but not CDMA.

Samsung could announce Exynos 8895 in mid 2017

When it comes to architecture, both chips will be using a combination of Mongoose M2 and Cortex A53 CPU. The graphics processing units will be clocked at 550MHz. The chipset is said to have improved processing speeds by 70% and reach clock speeds of up to 3.0GHz.

The chipset will be the first Samsung SoC running on 10nm process and it will have a maximum power draw of just 5 watts. By comparison, Exynos 8890 is build on a 14nm process and an average clock speed of about 1.3GHz.

Exynos 8895 SoC is said to arrive in the second quarter of next year, possibly in April when the Galaxy S8 will be announced. As expected, Samsung’s next flagship smartphone will come in two variants, one running the Exynos 8895 in the US and the other, Snapdragon 835 chipset, in other regions. This year, Samsung released the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy Note 7 with Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890, depending on the country.
