Sony Xperia XA successor gets rendered, might feature a US…

The Xperia XA successor could feature a design very similar to Sony’s current flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ. Unofficial renders of the upcoming smartphone were shared online by Slashleaks, courtesy of smartphone leakster @OnLeaks, who has a fantastic track record with releasing renders of unannounced devices months before their official announcement.

While it does seem to have similar super-thin bezels on the sides as the Xperia XA, it seems to have a completely flush front and back panel similar to the Xperia XZ. However, there are no significant changes as far as we can tell, so the Xperia XA successor will look similar to any other smartphone from Sony as far as the basic design is concerned.

The Xperia XA successor is likely to feature the same 5-inch display size as the current model and will be almost identical in terms of overall physical dimensions as well. According to the leakster, the smartphone will measure 145 x 66.8 x 7.99mm. For reference, the Xperia XA measures 143.6 x 66.8 x 7.9mm.

There is still no mention of core hardware specs, but the leak does claim that the smartphone is going to include a USB Type-C port. Sony has so far equipped only the Xperia XZ and the Xperia X Compact smartphones with a USB Type-C port, so the Xperia XA could be the company’s first “proper” mid-range handset to come with the new connector.

We expect the Xperia XA successor to be unveiled at Sony’s CES press conference in Las Vegas next month.
