Socialcast, a developer of enterprise social networking tools which had started in Orange County but was later moved to San Francisco, has been acquired by VMware. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Socialcast< had started in Irvine, but was poached to the Bay Area after getting a Series A funding from Bay Area venture firms, including Baseline Ventures, Menlo Ventures, and True Ventures.
