If you are in the market for a nice six-core Ryzen 5 1600X processor, you might be in luck for some extraordinary value. Some users have reported some of their Ryzen 5 1600X procs to work with 8-cores.
Now first a word of caution, the screenshots could always be photoshopped photos, for some websites to get a bit of a viral. But hey, who knows right? As wccftech reported basically some reddit user(s) who bought Ryzen 5 1600 and 1600X processors reported that they get 16 threads right after starting their PC for the very first time. So that’s eight cores with 16-threads for ya. Since the Ryzen 1600X is clocked pretty much at 1800X frequencies that means a serious chink of extra perf for roughly half the price. A Ryzen 5 1600 is spotted for just over 200 bucks.
It very well can be a motherboard firmware thing that is detecting the procs improperly. Each processor is tested and validated before they move towards the stores. But hey, if the extra cores are working and it’s a good yielded proc (which we know Ryzen to be) with non damaged cores some of you might be in luck.
