In yet another addition to their already populated line of computer cases, Silverstone has announced the release of the budget-oriented (by Silverstone’s standards) RL06 ATX case. It is built primarily from steel and plastic, and sheds the more premium tempered glass alternative for a more cost-effective transparent plastic side window.
The RL06 will be available in two different color schemes: the usual, gamer-style black with red trim or a more subdued white with silver trim. The base model ships with a single 120mm fan on the rear of the case, but Silverstone also announced a Pro version which comes with three additional 120mm LED fans mounted on the front of the case.
The RL06 case carries dimensions of 455 x 200 x 477 mm, with clearance for cards up to 13.7 inches (348 mm) long and has sufficient headroom for CPU coolers up to 158 mm tall. Radiator support stands at 120/140/240 mm for the front, 120 mm for the rear of the case, and 120/240 mm for the top of the case, while the PSU department is served by an “up to” 200 mm specification.
There are three 3.5-inch drive bays and two 2.5-inch bays. There aren’t any external drive bays, either, which means you can’t add an optical drive (if you feel like going back to the 2000’s), a hot-swap drive, a card reader or additional USB ports to the front I/O panel, though Silverstone included two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, a 3.5 mm Mic-in jack, and an audio-jack.
The case comes in at 6 Kg, and will be released sometime this month, with the standard version carrying an MSRP of $80. There isn’t any word on the price of the Pro model, though.
