State College, Pennsylvania, April 20, 2012 – Schoolwires has launched a new mobile app that enables users to easily access school and district information from their smartphones anytime, anywhere. The new mobile option, which is available for an additional cost, supports the latest release of the Centricity2 website and content management solution that also offers a number of new features and expanded functionality.

“Extending our website experience to the mobile environment is very exciting,” said Robin Smith, Educational Technology Specialist at Hollidaysburg Area School District. “We look forward to offering this attractive and easy-to-use application to our district and community.”

The Schoolwires Mobile App delivers information in a simplified user interface designed specifically for smartphones. From their mobile devices, students, parents, administrators and local citizens can access a wide range of content available on the district’s website. This can include the district and school home screens, announcements, headline news and information, calendar of events, lunch menus and other content identified by the school. Equally important, a district can keep its entire K-12 community informed of last-minute changes to after-school and sports activities, weather alerts, and other dynamic information.

“Mobile access is especially important to the K-12 community where activities and events carry over into evenings and weekends,” said Christiane Crawford, Chief Executive Officer and President, Schoolwires. “Our new mobile app also meets users’ expectations for untethered, on-demand access to routine information and resources, strengthening a district’s connection to its broad and diverse community.”

Among the new features introduced in the latest release of Centricity2 is Inline Editing which simplifies the process for making changes to Web pages. Authorized district users, like teachers, can make copy changes directly on a Web page without leaving the site. The new release also conforms to SIF® industry standards, allowing districts to seamlessly transfer student data from their Student Information Systems (SIS) into Centricity2, saving the time required to re-enter data and helping to ensure consistency across systems.
