Samsung updating the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge to Andro…

Samsung has joined the list of manufacturers who have officially updated their devices to Android 7.0 today, as the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are now receiving the latest version of Android. The company had run a beta program to test Android Nougat on the two devices, and those who participated in the program are the first in line to be receiving the update. There is no word on when non-beta users will be getting the update, but it shouldn’t be long before it becomes available to more users around the world.

Nougat brings a new user interface to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, and should also include all the regular features of the newest iteration of the OS, including improved multitasking and battery life and the new Vulkan API for graphics. Samsung’s own additions will also be part of the package, with some of the features likely to be borrowed from the now-discontinued Galaxy Note 7.

As is the case with Android updates, Android 7.0 for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge should be rolling out in batches to different markets over the coming days. SamMobile believes the full rollout could begin on January 17th for regular users, although Samsung isn’t saying anything except the fact that the update has started going out to beta users starting today.
