When you think Samsung, you probably think the S7, the upcoming S8, and probably the deceased Note 7. However, that’s not what Samsung is all about. Samsung does produce mid-range and budget smartphones too. They are not too well-known, but they are still worth mentioning. This year, Samsung has just announced the launch of its A3 and A5 budget smartphones.
They have a rather similar build to the Samsung Galaxy S7, so that means these phones have a metal frame and glass back, the signature curved corners and also a physical home button beneath the screen.
For midrange/budget smartphones, it’s surprising to see that they are actually IP68 certified dust and water resistant. Yes, that means they can be submerged in water for up to 30 minute to a depth of 1.5 meters.
The colours they will be available in are Black Sky, Gold Sand, Blue Mist and Peach Cloud.
However, their dimensions differ from the S-series smartphones with the Galaxy A3 2017 coming in at 135.4 x 66.2 x 7.9mm, and the Galaxy A5 2017 coming in at 146.1 x 71.4 x 7.9mm.
In terms of screen resolution, the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 has a a compact 4.7-inch 720p display, but the Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 has a bigger and more powerful 5.2-inch 1080p screen. and the Galaxy A5 2017 will have a stronger 1.9GHz octa-core chip and 3GB of RAM.
They will be retailing at about GBP 299 for the A3 and GBP 499 for the A5.
