Samsung today formally announced the global launch of its first quantum dot curved gaming monitor, the CFG70. The monitor was first introduced a few weeks back at the Gamescom 2016 and IFA 2016 conferences.
The CFG70 is not only Samsung’s first but also the industry’s first curved gaming monitor to feature quantum dot technology. As we told our in our previous report, the CFG70 comes in two sizes – 24-inch and 27-inch. Both models are claimed to deliver accurate colors with up to 125 percent sRGB coverage and a high contrast ratio of 3,000:1. Combing Samsung’s advanced motion blur reduction technology with a VA panel, the CFG70 is claimed to be the first curved monitor to produce a 1 ms moving picture response time (MPRT). It also comes with a 144 Hz refresh rate with support for AMD’s FreeSync variable refresh rate technology.
“With the introduction of quantum dot technology to our pioneering curved monitors, Samsung offers a look into the future of gaming, along with a level of picture quality like the industry has never seen before,” said Seog-gi Kim, Senior Vice President, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “The CFG70 makes gamers feel as if they are part of the action, and represents Samsung’s most powerful and visually-compelling curved monitor to date.”
The curved “Super Arena” design of these monitors, with industry-best 1800R curvature allows for a truly immersive viewing experience. To further enhance the experience, the CFG70 comes with sound-interactive LED lighting as well. In terms of connectivity, you get a DP and two HDMI ports. The integrated stand allows for tilt, rotate and pivot adjustments without having to move the base. It is VESA supported as well.
In its press release, Samsung also highlights the fact that the CFG70 has been honored with the annual Good Design Award by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP). The monitor also employs an environmentally-safe, cadmium-free design.
