Samsung launches Gear S3 value pack software update

220

Last week, Samsung released a software update for its Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic smartwatches, but it only made it available to users in select markets. Now, the company announced that the update – a “value pack update”, as Samsung is calling it – is coming to more regions, presumably including the US.

The update enhances the S3’s Samsung Health app with an improved interface and various new workout features. For example, users can now see approximate locations for detected running and walking activities, sync pace-setter running targets with the app on their phone, stay up to date with their daily heart range, and benefit from a streamlined Stretching guide that’s activated after 50 minutes of inactivity.

The Reminder app has been updated, too, now letting users add specific dates for reminders that can be delivered via S Voice. Other novelties include enhanced accessibility features, updated Find My Gear app, a more straightforward Settings menu, an auto-calibration option for the Alti/Barometer, and a better Stopwatch (which can now count time up to 3 hours).

The new value pack update should be available via the Samsung Gear app on your smartphone, being downloadable only when the Gear S3 is synced.

If you own a Samsung Gear S3 Frontier or Gear S3 Classic, let us know if you’ve received this value pack update!
