Samsung Galaxy S8 could launch with 4GB and 6GB RAM option…

Could Samsung be taking a cue from Chinese competition as far as the amount of RAM offered by the Galaxy S8 is concerned? According to the latest leak regarding the upcoming handset, Samsung could launch the Galaxy S8 (and its larger sibling, currently known as the Galaxy S8 Plus) in two variants – one with 4GB of RAM, and another 6GB of RAM. Most Chinese flagships these days are offered in similar configurations, and the Galaxy S8 could also join the league.

According to the new information, the 4GB variant will have 64GB of internal storage while the 6GB variant will feature 128GB of storage. South Korea and China are expected to exclusively get the 6GB RAM model, suggesting Samsung is mainly looking to compete with manufacturers in China (a market where 6GB of RAM is fast becoming the norm on Android smartphones) and giving consumers in its home country preferential treatment. In other markets, the 4GB RAM variant is said to be the only option that will go on sale, which is likely to dismay consumers should it turn out to be true.

We had previously heard that the Galaxy S8 could even feature 8GB of RAM, but anything more than 6GB of RAM seems very unlikely. There is no way to confirm Samsung will offer the Galaxy S8 with even 6GB of RAM, although it is certainly plausible given the company recently launched a mid-range handset with 6 gigs of random access memory. Only time will tell, and all this information should be taken with a pinch of salt until Samsung takes the wraps off its next Galaxy S flagship.
