The Galaxy S8 is expected to be the largest version of Samsung’s Galaxy S flagship lineup, with one of its variants said to feature a 6.2-inch screen on a nearly bezel-less front. We have heard before that Samsung could be ditching its traditional hardware home button to make room for the large screen in a compact form factor, and a rumor today is reiterating that this will indeed come to pass.

According to David Ruddock from Android Police, Samsung is finally ditching its hardware and capacitive navigation buttons for on-screen navigation keys, which are what Google recommends as a part of Android’s guidelines. The phone will apparently support 3D Touch-like functionality as well, which means the screen could be pressure-sensitive. The Galaxy S7 was rumored to have a pressure sensitive screen before it launched but that did not come to pass, and it looks like Samsung could finally bring the feature to its lineup with the Galaxy S8.

There has been a lot of conflicting information about the Galaxy S8, and it is likely because of Samsung testing numerous prototypes with different features that might or might not make it into the final product. It’s best to take everything with the proverbial pinch of salt at this point in time, as nothing is certain until Samsung takes the wraps off its upcoming flagship.
