Well this isn’t something that we thought would happen. While we still don’t know all the details, the newly announced Galaxy Note 7 caught fire and “exploded” while it was being charged. Samsung is currently investigating the issue, but the problem was probably caused by a charger.
The images show that the owner of the phone, also known as ‘Mr. Ni 666666’ on the Chinese forum Baidu, was using a microUSB to Type-C converter for the cable, and if the charger was also different, then the culprit is pretty much revealed. Still, it is disappointed to see that a different charger or a cable could cause something like this. We’ll keep you posted as new details come out.
