After unveiling the Galaxy A (2017) series recently, we are expecting Samsung to soon announce the new Galaxy J (2017) lineup. The flagship of the upcoming Galaxy J (2017) lineup, the Galaxy J7 (2017), has made an appearance on the popular Geekbench database.
The Geekbench listing for the Samsung SM-J727P reveals that the smartphone is currently being tested on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. This obviously means Samsung will be launching the smartphone with Android Nougat out of the box when it goes on sale. Powering the Galaxy J7 (2017) will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, which is an octa-core chipset clocked at 2.21 GHz. The Snapdragon 625 is usually clocked at 2.0 GHz, but in the Galaxy J7 (2017)’s case, it appears the chipset has been overclocked to 2.21 GHz. The chipset is going to be paired with 2GB of RAM, the same as the Galaxy J7 (2016). Still, the new model will be a big improvement over its predecessor in terms of performance, thanks to the more powerful chipset under the hood.
According to previous rumors, the smartphone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution, 13MP rear-facing camera, 5MP front-facing camera, and a 3000mAh battery. While most of the rumored specs do make sense, we aren’t sure if Samsung would go with a smaller battery on the new model. The Galaxy J7 (2016) for reference, packs a 3300mAh battery. And since the Galaxy J7 (2017) is by no means a high-end device, it doesn’t make sense for the company to prioritize a thinner design by going with a smaller capacity battery.
