It looks like there is going to be a big lawsuit for infringing on FinFET technology patent, including all the major companies. According to a report by SamMobile, the US-based Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) is suing the companies over FinFET patent infringement.
Apparently KAIST was the first company that developed FinFET, which was then stolen by Samsung when FinFET developer Lee Jong-ho did a presentation on the technology to Samsung’s engineers. Companies like Qualcomm, Global Foundries and TSMC will also face lawsuit as soon as KAIST has the proper evidence to proceed.
The only company that isn’t affected is Intel, who has already obtained licenses from KAIST.
