By providing academic improvement programs and a streamlined college application process, the two companies plan to increase HBCU matriculation
Santa Monica, CA – January 17, 2012 – Revolution K12, a rapidly growing web-based adaptive software division of Revolution Prep, has partnered with EDU, Inc. to provide its customers of math, English language arts and SAT/ACT prep courses access to EDU. Inc. EDU, Inc. streamlines the college application process for minority students by allowing students to apply to 36 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) with a single application and fee.
“Revolution K12 and EDU, Inc. have one important common goal – increasing the number of college-ready students. For many of the students we work with, going to college seems unattainable. Once they learn the necessary math and English skills and begin preparing for the ACT and SAT exams, college starts to become a reality,” said Revolution Prep co-founder Jake Neuberg. “By adding the college application process to our existing programs, we are streamlining the process, helping to make it more affordable and showing students the connection between preparing for exams and getting into college.”
Approximately 100,000 students have used EDU, Inc.’s Common Black College Application to apply to HBCUs, with a 97% college acceptance rate. “By partnering with Revolution K12, EDU, Inc. will continue to broaden the nationwide reach of these colleges and universities and increase the matriculation rate of minority students,” said President of EDU, Inc., Robert Mason.
Revolution K12 continually strives to partner with like-minded organizations to improve academic outcomes for students. Other Revolution K12 partner organizations include BOOST Collaborative, The Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools, Beyond the Bell and the Hispanic College Fund.
