The Xiaomi Mi 5c, which is expected to be made official very soon, has been listed online by Chinese retailer Tmall. The new listing confirms the smartphone’s specs, which were leaked online a few weeks back. Don’t pay attention to the listed price tag though, the actual price should be a lot lower, likely around the RMB 1,500 mark.
The Mi 5c will feature a 1080p Full HD resolution display and is going to be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. In terms of memory, the smartphone will include 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
Unlike the Mi 4C launched last year, the Mi 5C will not feature a polycarbonate build. Instead, Xiaomi has used metal predominantly, with plastic being used only on the top and bottom of the device for better signal reception.
While some of the specs have now been confirmed, a few key details still remain unconfirmed. The display size for instance, hasn’t been established yet. Some recent rumors have hinted at two different screen sizes, but no convincing evidence suggesting the same has surfaced yet.
When it comes to software, the Mi 5c is confirmed to run on MIUI 8 out of the box, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. An update to Android 7.0 Nougat might not arrive though, as the Mi 5c is going to be a mid-range smartphone and Xiaomi isn’t known for fantastic software support.
