RED, a company that typcally builds incredibly high-powered cameras for the film industry is working on a high-end smartphone with a holographic screen. The device is called the Hydrogen One is to cost 1195 dollars (about 1,049 euros).
The 5.7 inch screen uses nanotechnology to “seamlessly switch between traditional 2D content, holographic content, 3D content and interactive games,” said RED (pdf). Also, virtual and augmented reality are supported by the device.
The phone will also get support to add multiple modules. These modules focus on enhanced photography, including with special lenses to create videos. The device further gets C-USB port, an input for a micro SD card and a headphone output. Other details like proc and memory have not been disclosed.
The Hydrogen One ships in early of 2018. An aluminum version is sold for $1,195 (about 1,049 euros) but there is also a Titanium one for $ 1,595 (about 1,399 euros). The individual modules are launched after introduction.
