Realtek reports decreased pre-tax earnings for 3Q16

Networking IC design company Realtek Semiconductor has reported that its pre-tax profits decreased 26.8% on quarter to NT$813 million (US$25.77 million) in the third quarter of 2016. Pre-tax EPS for the quarter stood at NT$1.61.

The company said it posted an operating income of NT$974 million for the third quarter, but the pre-tax earnings were reduced due to a loss of NT$161 million in non-operating income. Operating margin stood at 9.47% in the third quarter, down 1.5pp from a quarter earlier.

For the first three quarters of 2016, pre-tax profits totaled NT$2.565 billion, increasing 39.6% from a year earlier. Pre-tax EPS reached NT$5.08 for the January-September period.

The company’s stock price shed NT$2.50 to finish at NT$104.50 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) during the November 1 session.
