Razer has announced its thinnest desktop replacement notebook yet, the new Razer Blade Pro. The new 17-inch notebook has been completely redesigned from the ground up, build specifically for enthusiasts and power users looking for desktop-grade performance in a portable machine. It packs the latest Intel Core i7 quad-core processor and NVIDIA’s new mighty GTX 1080 GPU, making it fully compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and OSVR HDK2 VR headsets. This makes the Razer Blade Pro an ideal choice even for VR developers.
The new gaming notebook features a 17.3-inch IGZO UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution display with NVIDIA G-Sync support and 100% Adobe RGB color accuracy, along with capacitive multi-touch capability. Powering the beast is the Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor clocked at 2.6 GHz, with a Turbo Boost clock of 3.5 GHz. In terms of storage, users will be able to configure the notebook with up to 2 x 1TB PCIe M.2 options. To complement the powerful processor and the GPU, Razer has equipped the new Razer Blade Pro with 32GB of dual-channel DDR4 2133 MHz system memory.
In addition to packing impressive hardware on the inside, Razer has also focused on the input devices. The new Razer Blade Pro is the company’s first notebook to come with Ultra-Low-Profile mechanical switches. Each of these switches feature a true actuation and reset point. To mimic the feel of a full-size mechanical keyboard, presses are registered with 65 grams of force. Both the keyboard and trackpad are powered by Razer Chroma, allowing users to choose from a vast array of dazzling lighting effects.
On the connectivity front, the Razer Blade Pro comes with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C), three USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports, SDXC card reader, 3.5mm headphone/mic combo port, TPM security chip embedded, Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000, Killer Wireless AC 1535 (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac + Bluetooth 4.1, and HDMI 2.0 video and audio output.
Despite being a powerhouse 17-inch machine, the notebook is under an inch thick and weighs in at 3.54 kgs, which is quite impressive.
