Qualcomm has high-end segment covered thanks to the new Snapdragon 821 chipset, but the company wants to make sure it is the number one choice for the mainstream devices, which is where the most money is made and we have first information about the new chip.
Dubbed the Snapdragon 653 (MSM8976Pro), the chipset is successor to the Snapdragon 652 octa-core chip. It packs the same octa-core architecture as its predecessor, but it will have 4x Cortex A73 clocked at 2.0 GHz and 4x Cortex A53 clocked at 1.4 GHz. The GPU department will also get a bump with Adreno 515 clocked at 550 MHz. Other features include LTE Cat. 9 3 x 60MHz CA, Bluetooth 4.1, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi support, LPDDR4 RAM, Dual ISP and 24MP Camera sensor support.
