Besides adding Snapdragon 210 support for Android Things, Qualcomm has also announced a new X20 gigabit modem that is capable of “fiber-like” speeds, with download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps. This new modem is the first big step towards of 5G network, which is closer than we think.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE is the world’s first modem that supports LTE Category 18 download speeds, which is a 20% improvement compared to Snapdragon X16 LTE. The increased speed will definitely help companies to deliver experiences such as 360-degree video and virtual reality (VR), connected cloud computing and instant apps.
Other specs include 10nm process, 4×4 MIMO on three carriers and support for up to 5×20 MHz downlink Carrier Aggregation (CA) across licensed and unlicensed FDD and TDD radio frequencies.
