Purported LeEco Pro 3 spotted in the wild ahead of Septemb…

If recent leaks are to be believed, LeEco is set to create history by bringing 8GB of RAM to smartphones with its upcoming Pro 3. The device is expected to be offered in both 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variants, with as high as 256GB of internal storage out of the box. The specs of the handset have been leaked in full before, and we are now getting a look at the phone itself thanks to a leaked image.

The image shows what is purportedly the Pro 3 from the back. The design looks rather similar to existing LeEco phones; there’s a fingerprint sensor below the protruding camera module, a setup that’s becoming all too common on smartphones these days. The camera is expected to be a 16-megapixel sensor on the 5.5-inch, 6GB RAM variant of the Pro 3; the 5.7-inch 8GB RAM variant is expected to have dual 13 MP rear cameras. The latter will also have a 5,000 mAh battery, nearly 1,000 mAh more than the 4,070 mAh battery on the 5.5-inch variant.

Under the hood, both Pro 3 variants should be powered by the Snapdragon 821 processor. The base model will have 64GB of internal storage, a Full HD display, and an 8-megapixel front camera; the top model will have a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and 2K display resolution. Details on the software are unknown at the moment, but the LeEco Pro 3 should run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, with the company’s EUI skin on top. LeEco’s entertainment package should come bundled on the handset, and the company is likely to continue with using the USB Type-C port for both charging and audio output.

The LeEco Pro 3 is set to be priced attractively like previous smartphones from the manufacturer. The 6GB RAM variant will cost 2,099 Yuan (roughly SGD 430) and the higher-end model will set consumers back by 3,099 Yuan (roughly SGD 635). It remains to be seen what the 8GB of RAM will offer – battery concerns over too many apps running in the background made OnePlus limit the OnePlus 3 from using all of the 6GB of RAM on the handset, although LeEco might not suffer the same restraints thanks to the large batteries on both Pro 3 models.

The LeEco Pro 3 is set to launch on September 21st.
